How we check the information on this site

How we check

ukrainianconsulates.us is an independent directory of Ukraine’s consular offices in the United States. It is not run by Ukraine’s government or by any of its offices, and it cannot file or book anything. This page explains where each fact comes from and what we do when the official pages disagree.

Where the information comes from

  • The official pages of the five offices with a consular district: the Embassy’s consular section and the consulates general in New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Houston, all on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ platform, mfa.gov.ua.
  • The Embassy’s list of honorary consuls, and the honorary consuls’ own websites where they still work, through the Internet Archive where they do not.
  • The Law “On Citizenship of Ukraine” on zakon.rada.gov.ua, in the version in force since 2026.
  • Other sources: the CDC’s Where to Write for Vital Records, the Embassy’s visa fee table and OpenStreetMap.
  • Google’s business listings, for reviews and for listings that differ from the official ones.

Dated copies

Every official page we cite is saved on the day we read it. The current version of the site rests on copies made on 22 October 2026, and the pages that depend on them show that date at the top. Where a page gives its own publication date, that is the date we use for it.

The Ministry’s websites hide much of their content in collapsed sections; our copies include them. Most of these pages are in Ukrainian only, and links from the English pages say so.

The CDC directory is read twice, and a state’s vital records office is published only when the two readings match.

A website that once belonged to an office is checked in the Internet Archive before we link it, and the place names in Ukrainian follow the Ministry’s spelling or, failing that, Ukrainian Wikipedia.

When official pages disagree

We publish both versions, each with its link, instead of choosing one silently. The site carries 10 of these today. San Francisco’s English and Ukrainian contact pages, for example, give different states; the Colorado page sets them side by side.

The contradictions published today

Each one sits on the page where it changes what you do; the first page is linked here.

Which office serves your state

Each office publishes the states of its district, and every state page follows that list. Where no office lists a territory, its page points to the nearest office and says it is our reading.

City pages also list the five offices with their straight-line distance and say when another office is closer than the assigned one.

Road distances and driving times come from OpenStreetMap routing (OSRM), at posted speed limits and without traffic; straight-line distances are calculated from the coordinates of each city and office.

Fees and reviews

The consular fee table on fees and requirements is the one the Embassy and the four consulates publish in common, in full; each amount on a guide or an office page is checked against the text we saved.

Reviews are read on Google on the date given on each office page, including the lowest-rated ones, and rewritten in our words.

What we have not done

We have not visited the offices or called them. The facts here come from what the offices, Ukraine’s ministries and U.S. agencies publish, with Google’s listings for the reviews and OpenStreetMap for the distances. If a page here and an office disagree, the office decides.

Corrections

If you find an error, write to [email protected] with the page and the official source that contradicts it. The legal notice says who runs the site.

This page is an independent guide, not an official site of the Government of Ukraine. Fees, hours and requirements change: confirm them on the official page of your office before you go.
